September 24, 2020 -September 27, 2020 – 27. The 1st Tatra Hackathon took place on September 24-27, 2020, at the (f)ITcubator innovation center in Poprad. The Ministry of Transport and Construction of the Slovak Republic took over the organization of the hackathon.
Over the course of four days, at the (f)ITcubator coworking innovation center, the competition participants learned about new technologies, processes in public administration and its environment, IoT and AR/VR trends and innovations, as well as modern programming methods. The main goal of the hackathon was to support education, motivate young people in IT activities, and engage in social challenges. A hackathon (also known as a hack day, hackfest or codefest) is an event where software engineers and programmers come together in groups to collaborate intensively on selected projects. Participants choose these based on a predetermined theme.
“The main purpose of this activity is to support young people in their interest in public affairs, with the ambition to create space for their innovative ideas and thus transfer their creative spirit to public administration. By bringing the state of the environment and processes in state administration closer, we will increase the engagement of young people and, last but not least, contribute to greater transparency,” said Andrej Doležal, Minister of Transport and Construction of the Slovak Republic.
“I am glad that the City of Poprad can also support the activities of innovative communities that can move our country forward. In times of economic recession when various physical restrictions apply, virtualization and automation are the key to prosperity,” said Anton Danko, Mayor of Poprad.
#Tatrahack ended with amazing projects. Young, creative and inspiring people, you showed us how to do things differently. In addition to financial prizes, special prizes were also given out from hackathon partners and Minister Andrej Doležal.
